Are We On the Way Out?
While economic reports have been lackluste
r at best, I have a funny feeling that we may be on a rocket ship out of the recession that has made the lives of many tremendously difficult. Part of the reason for the sudden burst of optimism is that there just simply is no other way to go. Something has to give eventually and people will start to see opportunity in building new construction projects. The other reason of course, is that I have been bidding several jobs over the past few weeks where for months on end I was lucky to throw one number out in a month.
Part of this was just being better at finding jobs for bid, but I’m also going to look through a glass half full and suggest that there are in fact more jobs for bid as well. I’m honestly not sure what the truth is at the moment, and I say this while there are at least 10 other bidders on one of the jobs for which I am submitting, but I will say that things seem to be improving.
Perhaps we should echo the words of the 1999 US Ryder Cup captain Ben Crenshaw on his Saturday press conference before his team mounted an unprecedented 4 point comback to win the Cup, “I have a good feeling about this. That’s all I’m gonna tell you.”
