Update Your Farm and Make Money this New Year

Written By: Guest on January 15, 2014 No Comment

This New Year you may be thinking that the next 12 months could be tough in terms of making money on your farm. The best way to tackle this is to take action and make the most of the current situations that are making a difference to farmers up and down the country. Updating your farm could initially cost money but the rewards that you could see may be much better than anticipated. John Ruck’s agricultural buildings could be the solution that you have been looking for. There are a number available and can help to make you money all year round.

Cattle

There have been many developments within the cattle farming sector during 2013. This is largely down to the horse meat scandal, in which meat that was being sold in supermarkets across the country was labelled as beef but actually turned out to be horse. This caused uproar as it was clear that regulations and checks were just not tight enough. People have become extremely focused on buying British beef as they can trust where it is from and that it contains exactly what it says on the packet.

If you have been considering expanding your herd or taking on cattle farming as a brand new endeavour then you will want to invest in the correct building for their protection. A lot of the time cattle will happily spend their hours out in the fields grazing, but they will need shelter for when the weather is treacherous. The better health they are kept in, the better quality the meat is likely to be and therefore the more money you could potentially make. A cattle shed which has the correct facilities to accommodate them is essential and advice can be given on which is the best option for your requirements.

Chickens

With a surge in the investment for local farmers, more supermarkets and shops across the country are purchasing meat from farmers right here in the UK. Chickens are a great investment and as the most popular meat within the UK it could definitely be a wise decision to make. Recent studies suggest that the true effects of free range living on chickens could actually be worse than previous conditions but with investigation still under way it may be best to make a judgement for yourself. You will then be able to analyse the space that is needed and the type of building that will be suitable to house the chickens.

Crops

Although beef and chicken farming can fluctuate significantly, they can be a great investment especially with the current problems being investigated. However, crops are a great option for a sustainable living as long as each year your produce a great quality crop. This option will no doubt take more time and effort due to turning the soil, planting, nourishing and finally harvesting. You may feel far more financially secure in the long run as the demand for essential crops such as wheat is guaranteed to remain consistent in the near future. For crop storage there are many different buildings available to keep your produce dry and safe after being harvested.
